Something for everyone!

I still find things when I go out thrifting but I’m just really bad a blogging. Sorry.

My sister was out shopping today and found this little gem. I am trying to figure out the exact circumstances that lead to something like this being made. Who knows but they were clearly epic.

And all for $4.99

Hi xoJane

I posted a link here in a comment today so I popped in to say hi. And to show that Jane and I go way back.

Originals from 1991. He is at the local Comic-Con soon. I should get them signed. Continue reading

Flat Personality

I have hosted a few Flat Stanleys in my day. I live close to Niagara Falls and we have a set picture schedule we do.  I think I’ve met his match.

He is rubbery and it says Made in Canada on the back. Other than that no other identifiers. Kinda looks like a Campbell’s Soup Kid though right?

Doesn’t much look like Flat Stanley? Maybe a profile shot.

I had to buy him. (and those plates in the cart beside him) Not sure what I’m going to do with him or where he’ll live but seriously, I had to.

A trip down memory lane.

For our second Christmases, my sister and I got rag dolls. One was pink and white check and the other was purple and white check.

They were loved by us and many other children who came to our house. They have had a retirement of mostly sitting on chairs in our living room then my dining room.

In 2011, mom and I were thrifting and found a yellow one! She came home and joined her sisters on the dining room chair.

Told you pink and purple were loved.

Online research turned out they were put out by Hasbro in 1973 under the Romper Room brand and called Sweet Dreams. Their names were Annabel, Amanda and Abigail and that there was a brother named Alfie.

Of course I needed him but the prices on eBay were beyond my cheapness so he remained on the need list.

A few weeks ago the dolls came up in conversation and I looked again and found one in my price range. (Single digit vs triple digits!) I bought him and turns out he is a little brother. I fell in love instantly.

We went to my parents house on the way home from work and mom loved him. We then went home and he met his sisters.

I have finished up a collection I never thought I needed but I did and I couldn’t be happier.

Adam and Eve were here

In some religious it is common to have Biblical items used in decoration in the house.  You often see Noah’s Arks, nativity sets and the odd Mary. Rarely have I seen Adam and Eve. And what an Adam and Eve.

Yes, the black bar was necessary.  She has pearl earrings on and he has a club behind his back.

When I say its hard to shock me while thrifting, I didn’t mean it as a challenge. I was in the aisle behind chatting with someone for a bit and every single person stopped for a second to look at these.
